The Cobalt 3D Imager unit does not have to be sent back to the FARO factory for periodic calibration and re-certification. But the matching dot plate does.
FARO factory technicians re-certify your dot plate using high-accuracy photogrammetry and tracable scale bars. When the dot plate is returned to you, you get a new calibration file. You load this file to your system when you do a compensation. Only the dot plate needs to be sent in to the factory.
When your Manufacturer's Standard,Warranty runs out, you purchase the standard warranty extension. With the extended warranty, you get one free re-certification for your dot plate with every year of warranty purchased. Click here for information about warranties.
If you do not have a warranty, contact a global FARO Sales Agent for information about purchasing a re-certification.
