Calibration Certification and Traceability for Standard i-Probes
Overview
FARO® Standard iProbes are shipped with a probe calibration certification as a courtesy to show that the individual ball diameters were inspected and certified to eliminate the need for probe diameter qualification.
Zirconium oxide balls are very durable and typically do not wear or deform like steel or other probe materials; especially if they are brand new and unused. The diameter tolerance is +/- 2.5 microns. FARO has been using Zirconium oxide probes for years and have seen little to no variation over time.
After device delivery, regularly scheduled probe certification should be completed by a qualified local service provider or a company's internal certification service to satisfy quality requirements.
Control and Serial Number Traceability
A typical calibration certificate is shown below. It is important to note that the “Serial No.” listed on the front of the certificate is not directly traceable to the probe.
On the rear of the certificate you will find the official FARO stamp, listing the “Stylus” number (matching the “Control No.” referenced on the front of the certificate), and the actual serial number of the probe.
The serial number listed here is traceable to the FaroArm Manager - Probe Management screen.
