FARO Stream 3.0.4 Release Notes - January 2024
FARO is pleased to announce the release of Stream version 3.0.4. We would like to thank customers who provided valuable product input.
This release of Stream requires Orbis firmware 4.0.2 to work with an Orbis mobile scanner. The firmware of Orbis scanners with an older firmware version can still be updated via Stream. Important: Stream does not support downgrading to previous firmware versions.
Bug Fixes
Improved user experience following Orbis firmware update completion. The spinning wait cursor no longer keeps spinning after the firmware update successfully completes.
FARO Stream 3.0.3 Release Notes - December 2023
FARO is pleased to announce the release of Stream version 3.0.3. We would like to thank customers who provided valuable product input. This release includes feature enhancements that are designed to increase productivity, mobility and ease-of-use.
This release of Stream requires Orbis firmware 4.0.2 to work with an Orbis mobile scanner. The firmware of Orbis scanners with an older firmware version can still be updated via Stream. Important: Stream does not support downgrading to previous firmware versions.
Improvements
- Optimized performance for lists (projects, scans, datasets, etc.).
- Minor UI improvements.
- Improved performance for the data view.
- Improved performance for Sphere XG upload processes.
- Improved user feedback in cases where mapping couldn't be initiated due to a general error.
- Implemented a display of the uploading sheet/dataset while transferring to Sphere XG
Bug Fixes
General:
- Fixed an issue where devices appeared as available even when they were not.
- Fixed the Service package and log file export via Android’s Nearby Share feature.
- Fixed the firmware file download interruption when the app was sent to the background (iOS only).
Focus:
- Fixed a display issue of the "Undo" button for registration.
Orbis:
- Resolved an issue where a project synced with Sphere XG appeared as modified only after restarting the app.
- Addressed project upload errors after a previously canceled upload to Sphere XG.
- Corrected the project naming suffix to adopt the pattern "_N" for conflict avoidance.
- Fixed erroneous messages during firmware upgrades when an error occurred.
- Improved handling for users caught on the mapping screen due to a device connection interruption.
- Adjusted the view area limit to prevent exceeding the right and lower boundaries.
- Fixed initial lagging experienced during the start of a Flash scan.
- Stabilized the progress indicator during Sphere XG uploads to prevent fluctuations.

Improvements
Focus:
- Improved icons for Focus near, distance, and far settings
Orbis:
- The project image now syncs seamlessly with Sphere XG.
- Project creation dates are now synchronized with Sphere XG.
- All map zoom levels are accessible in offline mode.
- We've optimized the communication frequency between devices and Stream.
- Various minor performance enhancements have been implemented.
- Numerous cosmetic improvements.
Bug Fixes
General:
- Fixed an intermittent crash issue during network property checks.
- Fixed an issue where Stream sometimes failed to reconnect when the device erroneously detected use by another Stream instance.
Focus:
- When relocating a scan from a cluster to the project root, the notification text no longer displays an empty cluster name. Instead, it says "...moved to the top level."
- Fixed the problem where getting scan profiles from the scanner sometimes failed.
Orbis:
- The project name no longer gets lost sporadically when changing the project image.
- Stream no longer hangs indefinitely when trying to synchronize an invalid dataset (e.g., due to scanner shutoff during scanning).
- Scan label settings, which had no effect in Orbis mode, have been removed to streamline functionality.

FARO is pleased to announce the release of Stream version 3.0.1. We would like to thank customers who provided valuable product input. This release includes feature enhancements that are designed to increase productivity, mobility and ease-of-use.
Improvements
- Introducing support for FARO's cutting-edge scanner: The Orbis™ Mobile Laser Scanner.
- Stream now offers the capability to download and update firmware for both the Focus and Orbis scanners.
- Introducing a new feature that allows users to set limitations on loading scans from the Focus scanner, providing greater control and efficiency.
- Improved design that enhances user experience and navigation.
- When modifying cluster visibility, the view will automatically adjust to display the newly selected cluster.
- Numerous changes have been implemented to enhance stability, robustness, and overall performance within the app, ensuring a smoother and more reliable user experience.
- In the data view, you can now show either all scan marker labels, or only the label from the last scan.
- More details of the in-field registration are stored in the scan project, in both offline and online workflows.

FARO is pleased to announce the release of Stream version 2.0.2. We would like to thank customers who provided valuable product input. This release includes feature enhancements that are designed to increase productivity, mobility and ease-of-use.
IMPORTANT - Before Installing Stream
- Install Focus firmware 7.2.2 (or later) on your Focus Premium or Focus Core scanner before you use this version of Stream. The firmware can be downloaded from the FARO Knowledge Base or via the online firmware update option in the scanner.
- If you use Stream with the Ricoh Theta Z1 panoramic camera, upgrade the firmware 2.30.1 (or later) before using the camera with Stream.
Improvements
- FARO Flash scans now with Ricoh Theta Z1 HDR
The HDR (High Dynamic Range) setting makes it possible to see details in areas that would be overexposed or underexposed in scans with high-speed or low-noise settings. Stream 2.0.2 with Focus firmware 7.2.2, together with the Ricoh Theta panoramic camera, make it possible to use HDR when capturing FARO Flash scans, giving you the detail of HDR together with the speed of FARO Flash.

- Various fixes to improve stability and performance.
Known Issues
- In rare cases, high-resolution scans may result in reduced display performance.
FARO Stream 2.0.1 Release Notes - April 2023
FARO is pleased to announce the release of Stream version 2.0.1. We would like to thank customers who provided valuable product input. This release includes feature enhancements that are designed to increase productivity, mobility and ease-of-use.
IMPORTANT - Before Installing Stream
- Install Focus firmware 7.2.1 (or later) on your Focus Premium or Focus Core scanner before you use this version of Stream. The firmware can be downloaded from the FARO Knowledge Base or via the online firmware update option in the scanner.
- If you use Stream with the Ricoh Theta Z1 panoramic camera, upgrade the firmware 2.30.1 before using the camera with Stream.
Improvements
- The visibility of the top view has been enhanced — especially on tablets
- The Flash profile selection is now restricted to scanners with firmware 7.2.1 or later
- Additional performance enhancements have been implemented
Bug Fixes
- Placing the registration hint marker precisely was impossible because the view jumped when the user applied a long press
- Streaming panorama camera calibration scans sometimes failed
- Improved project loading when reopening a large project
- When connecting to a FARO Core scanner for the first time, no scan profiles were available
- Live streaming of the first scan after scanner bootup sometimes failed
- Some bug fixes to prevent crashes
Known Issues
- Projects with PanoCam scans cannot be uploaded to Sphere if the active cluster is selected. Workaround: Deselect the cluster before uploading.
FARO Stream 2.0.0 Release Notes - March 2023
FARO is pleased to announce the release of Stream version 2.0.0. We would like to thank customers who provided valuable product input. This release includes feature enhancements that are designed to increase productivity, mobility and ease-of-use.
IMPORTANT - Before Installing Stream 2.0
- We strongly recommend that you uninstall any previous versions of Stream from your device before installing Stream 2.0. Create a secure backup of all your data before proceeding.
- Install Focus firmware 7.2.0 (or later) on your Focus Premium or Focus Core scanner before you use this version of Stream. The firmware can be downloaded from the FARO Knowledge Base or via the online firmware update option in the scanner.

- Support for FARO Flash
- The scanner's compass is now used to pre-orientate the scans during registration
- Added optional sound or vibration when it is safe to move the scanner

FARO Stream 1.1.0 Release Notes - January 2023
FARO is pleased to announce the release of Stream version 1.1.0. We would like to thank customers who provided valuable product input. This release includes feature enhancements that are designed to increase productivity, mobility and ease-of-use.
IMPORTANT: Install Focus firmware 7.1.0 (or later) on your Focus Premium or Focus Core scanner before you use this version of Stream. The firmware can be downloaded from the FARO knowledge base or via the online firmware update option in the scanner.
New Features
- Support for the FARO Focus Core laser scanner, including licensing via Sphere.
- On-site compensation results can now be shared as a pdf report.
- Stream now indicates the scanning phase (e.g., "Inclinometer capturing").
- Scan base names can now be modified per cluster.
- Added new PanoCam options introduced with the FARO Focus firmware 7.1.0.
Improvements
- Point-cloud data is now optionally automatically downloaded.
- The scanner must now be explicitly selected. Previously, when multiple scanners were in the same network, Stream selected one scanner randomly.
- Sphere processing can now be triggered for projects that were uploaded but not processed during upload.
- Several usability improvements and bug fixes for the top view.
- Several usability improvements related to annotations.
- Reworked scanner detection and connectivity checks.
- Improved diagnostics related to registration failures.
Bug Fixes
- Several fixes related to cluster management.
- Fixed several crash situations.
Known Issues
- If a scan is assigned to another cluster before the scan is finished, the project synchronization mechanism will fail, so that on the scanner the scan will still be in the original cluster.
- Workaround: Wait to shift scans to other clusters until the scan is complete.
- In rare case the streaming of a scan can be interrupted.
- Workaround: Wait until the scan is finished and it will automatically reload after the scan is complete.
