Tracer

Released 22 Aug 2018. The Tracer^SI is the only laser projection system on the market that fully supports targetless, Feature-Based Alignment. Retroflectors are not required to perform alignment for templating. Feature-Based Alignment compares known features (holes, corners) on the object or assembly to the CAD model to perform alignment. Users can align large volume, “no touch” parts to facilitate accurate and repeatable projection schemes. Feature-Based Alignment reduces the time and effort required to set up for a laser-guided assembly project. Target-based or a hybrid target/targetless alignment capability are also supported.

IPV, a FARO^®-exclusive feature on the Tracer^SI, offers valuable quality-assurance checkpoints during and after critical assembly processes. Throughout the assembly process, using BuildIT Projector software and advanced imaging, the Tracer^SI scans the surface and detects errors in real time. The IPV process verifies the presence or absence of features, the position of objects, and can even detect foreign object debris (FOD) that might remain in the finished assembly.
