Motors Still Running When Using the Manual Drive Option on the Laser Tracker
The Manual Drive capability for the Vantage and ION model trackers leaves the motors on in a low torque state. This is an intentional change to make this function easier to use. By leaving the motors on in this low torque state, the tracker will remain aimed at the desired location when your hand is removed from its rotational axes.
The previous model V1 & V2 FARO Trackers turn the motors off and the when your hand is removed from the tracker's axes, they can sometimes move off the desired location. The power being applied to the motors of the Vantage or ION is not strong enough to damage the tracker when rotating the axes manual by hand while using this functionality.
