CompIT always assumes that the regular 1.5” SMR is used for all checks and compensations, so special precautions are needed if using the Windowed SMR with CompIT.
The 1.5” Windowed SMR can be used to perform Angular Accuracy Checks, Pointing Interim Test, or a Pointing Compensation, however when CompIT sends the tracker to the Home Position upon completion of these routines, the trackers current target setting will be 1.5” SMR. This will result in an error of any measurements completed until the tracker is reset to the home position with the target type set to 1.5” Windowed SMR. This will occur even if the target type is set to 1.5” Windowed SMR in the measurement software being used, such as Measure, before opening CompIT. The error will be in the trackers radial distance measurement and will be approximately 0.035” or 0.89 mm.
To eliminate this error, when using the 1.5” Windowed SMR to perform Angular Accuracy Checks, Pointing IT or Pointing Compensation, you should reset the tracker to the home position in Measure (or other measurement software). This should be done IMMEDIATELY after CompIT closes and before any measurements are performed.
On an ADM Only tracker, the ADM Checks on CompIT’s Advanced tab cannot be performed with the 1.5” Window. Using the 1.5” Windowed SMR for this check will produce invalid results.
