Work with Scan Localizer 2D Floor Plans in FARO Zone

Quick Steps

1. Check that you meet the prerequisites listed in the Prepare section below. Expand this section if necessary. 
2. Connect a mobile device to the FARO^® Scan Localizer.
3. Create a Scan Localizer 2D Floor Plan project file and scan an interior space.
4. Copy a 2D floor plan Scan Localizer project to a computer.
5. Open the Scan Localizer project in FARO^® Zone. 

Overview

Before you begin your floor plan scan project, it is a best practice to divide the interior space into sections so you can position the Scan Localizer to capture all the features and characteristics you want to showcase in your floor plan. The scan resides in a project file. The project containing the scan resides on the Scan Localizer network. 

To create a 2D floor plan of an interior space that you can enhance with FARO Zone, connect the Scan Localizer wirelessly to a mobile device. On the mobile device, tap an icon to start scanning, then move the Scan Localizer through sections of an interior space. You can watch sections of the floor plan build up on the device screen as you move through each section of the space. Pause occasionally to take pictures of interesting features as you go, and use the mobile device to put markers on the floor plan at the locations where you took pictures. When you have a complete floor plan, tap an icon on the device to save it to the Scan Localizer network.    

To copy the scan project file containing the scans to a computer where use FARO Zone, connect the computer to the Scan Localizer, copy the project file on the network, and paste it into a folder on your computer. Then just open it in FaroZone where you can use its floor planning features to augment the floor plan with details and animation.
