Quick Release (900-000035-000) Installation Instructions for the 8-Axis

Overview

The Quick Release Kit (for use in conjunction with the 8-Axis), provides many solutions to workholding challenges. After installation, the top plate of the 8-Axis can be quickly removed to ease installation of workholding fixtures and allow remote part mounting away from the inspection area.

Warning: The FARO 8-Axis maximum weight capacity is 220lbs (100kg). The user assumes all responsibility and risk for ensuring parts mounted to the 8-axis are secure, load balanced, and does not present a tipping hazard. Installation

Disconnect all cables from the 8-Axis unit.   Using a 4mm hex key, remove the four Screws from the top of the Plate and lift the Plate off the 8-Axis. Set the Plate and Screws aside as they will be need later in this procedure.

Position the Quick Release Bottom Flange  onto the 8-Axis (aligning the center pin and screw holes) and secure using the screws removed in the previous step.

Position the Quick Release Plate Flange  on the bottom of the Plate (aligning the center pin and screw holes) and secure using the four M6 x 16mm Screws  included with the kit.

Lower the Plate Assembly into position (aligning the center pin).

6.  Release the Latch and open the Quick Release Clamp . Position the Clamp around the Quick Release Plate Flange  and Quick Release Bottom Flange .
   
7. Close the Quick Release Clamp around the Quick Release Flanges. Ensure to engage the notch to the shaft inside the Clamp and then close the Latch.
   
   
8. Re-connect all cables, the 8-Axis is now ready for use.
