Get Started
Setting up the Procore account
Installing the BuildIT Construction app
- Browse to Procore.com and and log in with your Procore Project Admin credentials.
- Once you logged in, search on the “Home” tab under Apps in the top right corner the App BuildIT Construction. This will create the Data Connection in the current project and is required for future projects as well. This step is enabling the data-exchange in the background and not creating any recognizable modification. Once you see BuildIT Construction displayed under the Installed Apps list as shown below, continue to step 3. You can find additional information on this step here: Install an App from Procore.
Setting up the Procore project
- Ensure the project you wish to connect to is set to “active”.
- Verify that Coordination Issues are listed under Project Management.
- If the Coordination Issues are not displayed:
- Click on Admin under Core Tools
- On the right side, click on Active Tools. Scroll down until you see the Coordination Issue under Project Management and check it.
- Then click Update at the bottom of the page.
You can find additional information on this step here: Add Project Tools
- If the Coordination Issues are not displayed:
Allowing extra users
- If the analysis in BuildIT Construction will be completed by a user, who is currently not involved in the project – you need to add this user to the list. Go back to the Core Tool – Home.
- Hover with your mouse to the right side above the Project Team list. The EDIT icon becomes visible. Click on it.
- On the next page:
- Use the Permission Template: “Project Manager – Internal”
- Add an associated company
- Scroll to the bottom and
- Hit “Save and send notification”.
- To verify the new account is listed, you can click on the Home tab on Directory. You can find additional information on this step here: Add a User to the Project Directory.
- The user should receive the invitation to join the project via email. Make sure they accept the invitation by clicking on Get Started button and logging into the project.
From here on, the BuildIT Construction user can continue the required steps.
Creating a coordination issue in BuildIT
Creating a BCF Topic
- In BuildIT Construction highlight the issue you want to share with the project team. Add required annotations and zoom the view so that the issue can be easily spotted. Create a New BCF Topic.
- Associate the issue to an appropriate Element ID by clicking the object and complete the fields as necessary. Once completed, hit the OK button. Create one BCF issue for each identified problem in this project. Finally save the file.
Exporting a BCF Topic to Procore
- To transfer one or more issues into the current Procore project, hit Export Topic To Procore.
- If the connection hasn’t be established before you must request access via an automated authorization code.
- Click on Get Authorization Code.
- That will browse to a specific Procore page, where you will have to login with your credentials.
- On the next page, click Allow and you will see the Authorization code.
- Copy the code (CTRL + C), go to the BuildIT Construction App and paste the code (CTRL + V) into the code field.
- Once the connection is established between the BuildIT Construction installation and the Procore project, the steps above will be skipped and the Upload menu will pop up immediately.
- Click on Get Authorization Code.
- If the connection hasn’t be established before you must request access via an automated authorization code.
- In the Upload menu ensure the correct company is selected. Choose the relevant project to which you want to upload the Coordination Issues. Select one or more BCF Issues from the list. Click OK and the issue(s) will be synchronized into the selected Procore project.
- In the Procore project the issues will appear in the Coordination Issue list.
The issue includes all information, provided in the BuildIT Construction BCF Topic including a screenshot of the camera position while the issue was created.
- From here on you can handle the Issue in Procore as usual:
- Assign to responsible person
- Move to Observation or RFI
- Add more information
For your future projects, several of the steps above will not be required any more since the connection information is stored within BuildIT Construction.
