Applying Datums to Features in CAM2
Overview
Datum features are required to create datum alignments and perform GDT calculations.

Preparation
- Measure or create the datum features
- If using CAD, the recommended workflow is:
- Pick from CAD – create datum features on CAD
- Select Nominals in Features panel, right click Add Measurement
- Measure the corresponding datum features
- If CAD is not used, the user must manually enter the nominal information for:
- Feature position (x,y,z) – some features require multiple entries
- Feature vector (i,j,k)
- Feature Size
- If using CAD, the recommended workflow is:
Note: This can be done via the Feature Information panel, or by using the Key-In options.
Applying Datums to Features
Tip: for circle datums, normally a linear datum is used. |
- Datum labels will be displayed in the Feature panel and 3D viewer
- Datums feature can now be used for datum alignments and GDT callouts
Note: A datum feature must have both actual and nominal information to allow it to be used in a datum alignment.
