Importing FARO Focus and Blink Scanner Data
Overview
This article provides an overview of importing data from FARO Focus and Blink scanners using the Project Transfer and Manual Import methods with SCENE.
Project Transfer Method for FARO Focus and Blink Scanners
SCENE will detect when a USB stick or SD card is inserted. You can then easily select the scans that you would like to import with the option of processing them.

Incremental Update Using Project Transfer
When working across multiple days at the same location, each day (using the Project Transfer) you can safely transfer any new data to the project such as scans, clusters, and annotations. Simply insert the SD card or USB stick and trigger the transfer and process of the desired projects within SCENE.
- Only new data is transferred
- Already processed scans are not modified
- Already registered scans and registration is not modified
Manual Import Method for FARO Focus
To manually import scan data the SCENE Project must be manually created. It is then recommended to manually copy the scan data from your SD card stick to the Raw Scans folder of your project. Then via the Import tab, the scan data (located in the Raw Scans folder) can be dragged and dropped into the project.
After a manual import of scans, you may directly trigger the processing of them. It’s not needed to save the project in advance, doing so will take time and is an unnecessary step.
Note: The cluster structure and project data from Stream (pre-registration and annotations) are only preserved if the data import is done through the Project Transfer method.

Manual Import Method for FARO Blink
To manually import scan data the SCENE Project must be manually created. Unlike Focus data, it is not necessary to manually copy the scan data from your USB stick to the Raw Scans folder of your project. Once the project is created, via the Import tab, scan data can be dragged and dropped into the project.
