Windows Compatibility with FARO Insight

FARO Insight was developed before FARO's acquisition of SMX and was written for Windows XP Professional 32 bit. It is not compatible with Windows XP 64 bit and FARO has never done any official testing on Windows Vista in 32 bit or 64 bit.

FARO has done basic usage testing of FARO Insight on Windows 7 64 bit. It was determined that creating distances or angles in the Scalar Entities in the standard way was not possible. New distances or angles could still be created by importing a text file of feature names into the Scalar Entities. Once created, the function for the feature could be programmed as normal. Insight files that already had Scalar Entities features created from an installation on Windows XP were still able to be viewed and calculated on an installation of Windows 7. Full regression testing of all FARO Insight functionality on a Windows 7 has never been performed.

There has been no testing on Windows 8 or Windows 10 performed.
