Computers supplied by FARO® are configured with a “FARO Preferred User” Windows® user account. While this user account is assigned administrator rights, it is not set to require a login password.
It has been reported that some Windows updates will automatically set the account to require a password, effectively locking users out of their computer without notice.
To avoid any possible issues, FARO recommends that all users manually set a password for the default user account as soon as possible. To set a password, please refer to the “Add or remove a password for a Windows 10 local account” section in the following Dell™ support article:
