Overview

Faster and more efficient 3D measurement is now available with the new FARO® 8-Axis – a seamless integration of your existing Edge FaroArm®/ScanArm® with an eighth-axis part rotation axis – enabling uninterrupted data capture via real-time rotation of what’s being measured/scanned.

Adding the 8-Axis to your existing FaroArm eliminates difficulty reaching around an object or stopping your measurement process to relocate the Arm, allowing for:

  • Faster data collection
  • Extended measurement volume
  • Ultimate ergonomics and ease-of-use
  • Reduced damage-risk to delicate objects

Available Kits

For existing Edge FaroArm and ScanArm users, FARO offers two 8-Axis kits. Contact your FARO sales representative for more information and pricing.

Requirements:

  • Edge model revision 3.6 or newer
  • Firmware 711.18 or newer
  • Supports standard hard probes, V6 FaroBlu HD, and SD LLPs only

FARO Edge 8-Axis Kit  (p/n 900-000025-001)

Contents:

  • 8-Axis unit w/250mm plate (optional 500mm plate available)
  • Mounting ring and hardware
  • Interface cable
  • Shipping case
  • Custom Edge 8-Axis upgrade software (provided by FARO, specific to each arm serial number)

Also requires firmware version 711.18 or greater, downloadable here.

FARO Edge Upgrade Kit  (p/n 810-000087-000)

For customers who already own a Quantum 8-Axis unit, this upgrade kit will allow the use of the 8-Axis with the Edge FaroArm/ScanArm.

Note: Quantum 8-Axis units cannot be used with the Edge FaroArm/ScanArm without purchase of this upgrade kit.

  • Edge extension cable
  • Custom Edge 8-Axis upgrade software (provided by FARO, specific to each arm serial number)

Also requires firmware version 711.18 or greater, downloadable here.

 

Attention TP20 Touch Probe Users:

  • TP20 touch probes are not supported on the Edge FaroArm with the 8-Axis.
  • TP20 touch probes are supported on the Quantum/Quantum Max FaroArm with the 8-Axis. However, you must compensate the 8-Axis using the 6mm or 3mm hard probe. Once complete, then reattach the TP20 touch probe.
