Verify Firmware Version

Check the firmware version number to determine if you have the latest version.

  1. On the Scanner, go to Manage > General Settings > Scanner Details.
  2. The latest version is 7.3.0, released 8 Oct 2024.

Installation

If your firmware is not up-to-date and was not automatically updated by your scanner, use the instructions below.

In addition to the methods below, with the FARO Stream it's now also possible to perform a firmware update via your mobile device. The Stream app will notify the user if an updated firmware is available, and then it can be downloaded and installed on the Focus scanner. There are three settings available in Stream for control of automatic firmware downloads. Download firmware whenever an Internet connection is available, only via a wireless network, or never.

Note: Always perform firmware updates indoors away from windows and doors. Any access to the outside may cause interference with the GPS server.

WARNING: Downloading firmware from a source other than explicitly provided by FARO may void your warranty and cause damage to your scanner.

  1. Make sure your scanner and PC are fully charged, plugged in, and connected to the internet.
  2. From the Focus Home screen, navigate to Manage > Service > Firmware Update.
  3. Check that the Enable Online Updates is ON.

  8. Confirm results.

    • Go to Manage > General Settings > Scanner Details.
    • Check that the Firmware Revision version number matches the latest: 7.3.0.

Important! - Verify the currently installed firmware version before upgrading

If your firmware is version 5.2 or earlier, you must first upgrade to version 5.3 before you upgrade to the latest version of firmware. If you do not upgrade to 5.3 prior to upgrading to the latest version, the firmware will not install successfully, and the Focus Scanner may not operate correctly.
