Memory Cards Used With the Focus Laser Scanner and Formatting Instructions
Overview
The FARO® Focus Laser Scanner stores the recorded scans on a removable SD card. This memory card can also be used to create backups of the scanner settings, to import scanner settings, and to install firmware updates.
The memory card that came with your Focus is correctly formatted and can be used immediately with your scanner. Any other memory card must be correctly formatted before use. For information about using SD memory cards, see the user manual for your model scanner.
Below you can find some general information on how to manage you SD card:
- Back up your SD card to a hard drive often, and make sure the hard drive is also backed up. Redundancy is key to proper data storage.
- Store SD cards in a light-protected, hard, padded, and water resistant case.
- Date and label SD cards clearly.
- Carry spare, correctly formatted SD cards. If you are having a problem with one SD card, immediately switch to a new one.
- Avoid filling SD cards completely. Try to keep 25 percent of the card empty.
- Only use SD cards that meet FARO specifications listed below.
