Dimensions of the Shanked Nests for the 1.5 Inch SMR

Overview

All of the Shanked Nests (sometimes called Pin Nests) for the 1.5” Spherically Mounted Retroreflector (SMR) have the same basic dimensions. The only difference between them is the diameter of the precision shank, which is included in the name listed in our product catalog.

Imperial Unit Nests

On all of the Imperial Unit shanked nests, the center of the SMR sits a precision 1” from the bottom surface of the nest and the large circular portion that the SMR sits in has precision diameter of 1.6”. The tolerance of both the height and centering is +/- 0.0005". The length of the shank is 0.450” and the height of the large circular portion that the SMR sits in is approximately 0.42”. The shank diameter has a tolerance of +0.0000" to -0.0005". The shank diameter for each part number follows:

  • 069-90-131 – 0.1250” Shank Diameter
  • 069-00949 – 0.1875” Shank Diameter
  • 069-90-132 – 0.2500” Shank Diameter
  • 069-00948 – 0.3125” Shank Diameter

Metric Unit Nests

Metric Unit shanked nests are available with a choice of height offset, either the SMR’s center being precision 1” or a precision 25 mm from the bottom surface of the nest. The height of the large circular portion that the SMR sits in is approximately 0.42” for the 1” offset nests and approximately 10.3 mm for the 25 mm offset nests. The tolerance of both the height and centering is +/- 0.013mm (+/- 0.0005"). For either option, the large circular portion that the SMR sits in has a precision diameter of 1.6” (40.64 mm) and the length of the shank is 0.450” (11.43 mm). The shank diameter has a tolerance of +0.000mm (+0.0000") to -0.013mm (-0.0005"). The shank diameter and height offset for each part number follows:
