Blacked out Areas in FARO Insight
The screen of Insight being blacked out where the data is supposed to be is a result of Insight being installed incorrectly.
It is usually caused by one of the two following issues:
- Running the installation from within the downloaded .zip file instead of extracting its contents to a new temporary folder before hand. Windows allows you to view the .zip file as a folder and it is possible to run the Setup.exe file from within this .zip file by double clicking on it. Insight will install, but the screen will be blacked out where the data is supposed to be.
- Insight.exe and associated files is installed in the incorrect location such as the C:\ directory instead of the C:\FARO\Insight folder.
If this has occurred, uninstall Insight and re-install verifying that neither of these has occurred and that you have administrator privileges on the local computer.
