System Requirements for WebShare Enterprise
System/Server Requirements
General:
- WebShare Enterprise requires a server or virtual machine running a 64-bit Linux operating system, (RedHat 8.2, Ubuntu 18.04, 20.04, or a later LTS version).
- For hosting the server, we recommend using an Amazon EC2 instance or an Azure VM.
- If you want to host the server on premises, we recommend either to
- install Ubuntu/Red Hat as the host operating system,
- or to use a production-grade hypervisor like Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware vSphere, and to run Ubuntu in a VM.
Networking:
- Your users need to access the server on the default HTTPS port 443 from their browser or from FARO SCENE.
- For user convenience, we recommend to also allow access on the default HTTP port 80, which will just redirect to HTTPS.
- For best security, we recommend not to open any other ports to your users.
- You may need to open additional ports for administration, e.g., for connecting via SSH. We recommend to restrict access to these administration ports to individual IP addresses as needed.
Recommended specs for a typical production setup:
- 16 CPU cores, 128 GB RAM, required CPU and RAM depend on how the Export and Create 3D Data features are used.
- 10 TB of disk space. Details:
- 1 TB disk space for the WebShare Enterprise project data. Depends on project size; 100-200 MB per laser scan.
- 1 TB disk space for the exported data. Depends on how the Export feature is used.
- 8 TB for temporary files. Depends on how the Create 3D Data feature is used.
Minimum requirements for basic testing:
- At least 2 CPU cores recommended
- At least 2 GB of RAM. (But 4 GB is recommended)
