ScanPlan Quick Guide
- Power the ScanPlan on by pressing the power button on the bottom (near the handle) for three (3) seconds.
- Open the phone tray until it clicks.
- Place the appropriate USB magnetic adapter into the charging port of the cellular phone and mount into tray.
Note: It's best to use the WiFi connection, rather than the USB-tethering. However, the physical connection has to be established in any case as described in step 3. - From the available WiFi connections list on your phone, choose the network that begins with SP followed by a serial number.
- The default password is 0123456789 (it will not be able connect to ScanPlan if it is already connected to other wireless network)
- Open the ScanPlan app on your phone.
- Select Connect To ScanPlan.
- Select the blue plus "+" icon in bottom right corner to create a project.
- Designate the project name - make sure not to use spaces.
- The level defaults to 1. Be sure to change this if you are working with multiple layers.
- Select Start
Capture Data
You can capture data by walking (230 degree field of view). Make sure you overlap the scans at the beginning and end of the scanning.
NOTE: Be sure to keep the ScanPlan as leveled as possible.
Live feed is available while data is being captured. If there is any data missing, walk back to that point and scan again.
Recording Data
For recording data, the start and stop options are located in the bottom right corner.
If you have a point of interest, select the + icon in the bottom right corner.
Options to add photographs or other annotations are available. Measurements and room planner features can also be used from the same column.
Photographs
- Under annotations, select the placement mode of your choice.
- Select the photo icon.
- Follow the prompt to take the photo.
- Confirm.
Measurements
- Select the measurement icon and choose a position mode (move & place or point & place).
- Select distance or area.
- Move to your first position until the laser point meets (front or bottom depending on the placement mode) the point you want to mark.
- Tap “Add measurement point”.
- Then move to second point and tap "add measurement point" again. More points can be added by repeating the same steps.
- Select “End Measurement” when done.
- When mapping is complete, select the STOP icon.
- confirm SAVE, and mapping will load.
Use Optimize
Optimize when prompted in red on top or if you want to use the Export you need to optimize your project.
- Select Optimize maps to optimize with check-boxes and select Start.
- Select Done when it is completed.
Export Project
There is an arrow under the project title. This option allows for Scan Assist and Export and Optimize.
From here, you can export the project.
- Select the export option of your choice.
- Select the storage type (local or USB drive) for the export.
- By tapping the X in the upper left corner the Export Manager will close.
For exporting to WebShare you need to connect the ScanPlan to an internet WiFi network.
- Click on “Export to WebShare” and select the internet WiFi network of your choice.
- You will be prompted for the WiFi password.
- Click “Connect” for establishing the connection.
For any other export you can export to an USB drive or on to your device connected to the ScanPlan(Desktop or Smartphone).
Panoramic Images
If you are using the Ricoh Theta camera to take panoramic images:
- Mount the camera into the tripod and turn the camera on.
- Start the ScanPlan app and open a new or an existing project.
- Go to the WiFi settings and connect to the camera using the wireless network that begins with THETA.
- Click on the “+” button and select “Pano Photos”. ScanPlan will start looking for nearby theta cameras.
- Once one is found confirm the dialog by clicking on “Yes”.
- Place the camera where you want to take the photo.
- Move the ScanPlan to the side of the theta camera like indicated in the ScanPlan UI and press “confirm” button for storing the pano position.
- A dialog with a preview image from the theta camera will appear. Press “Trigger Photo” for triggering a photo.
- Repeat the process for capturing more Pano Photos
