Overview
Since the first release of FARO® CAM2® in 2018, we have received some common questions. This article aggregates the simple ones, but please search this knowledge base for more in depth questions you might have that are not discussed here.
Yes. Measure 10 files and CAM2 files both have a file extension of .fcd. So as long as you have a file created by Measure 10 with a .fcd file extension, you can open that file in CAM2.
Yes. CAM2 and Measure 10 are each installed in their own directory by default. You start them from different directories or desktop short cuts. But when you install them, if you customize the installation directory, make sure that you keep each of them in a separate directory.
Also, CAM2 and Measure 10 each make demands on the computer processor, so your computer processor may be stressed if they are both running at the same time. How well each behaves under this condition depends on the speed of the processor and what you are trying to do.
Yes. As long as your Measure 10 warranty has not expired, your Measure 10 license enables you to upgrade.
No. CAM2 only works with FARO metrology devices, such as the FaroArm, Laser Tracker, and 3D Imager. But, we recommend BuildIT Metrology software if you are using metrology devices made by other vendors, such as Leica, Romer, or Automated Precision, Inc. (API).
