Uninstall Measure Q Manually

IMPORTANT NOTE:  This full / manual uninstallation procedure is obsolete.  It has been replaced with a Clean Up Tool. Click here to downloaded.

This procedure should only be performed if you can not download and use the Clean Up Tool.

After using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel to do a standard uninstall of Measure Q, these steps will remove remaining items from you computer including the registry values and profiles.

See the following directions to manually delete the required files. NOTE: If some of the directories to delete do not appear, that step can be skipped.

Windows XP
File system changes

  1. Run uninstall program for Measure Q
    1. Select Windows Start -> All Programs -> FARO -> Uninstall Measure Q
    2. Select the "Yes" button to confirm uninstall of product.
  2. Remove these files from: C:\Documents and Settings\<USER-ACCOUNT>\My Documents\Measure Q
    1. documentpropertytemplate.pdt
    2. headerInformation.hed c.
    3. Preferences.xml
    4. Remove directory: Templates
  3. Remove directory: C:\Documents and Settings\<USER-ACCOUNT>\Application Data\FARO Technologies
    1. a. NOTE: The Application Data folder is hidden.
  4. Remove directory: C:\Documents and Settings\<USER-ACCOUNT>\Application Data\FARO_Technologies
  5. Remove directory: C:\Documents and Settings\<USER-ACCOUNT>\Local Settings\Application Data\FARO_Technologies\
    1. NOTE: The Local Settings folder is hidden.
  6. Remove directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FARO Technologies
    1. NOTE: The Application Data folder is hidden
  7. Remove directory: C:\Program Files\FARO\Measure Q 1.0
  8. Remove files from: C:\Program Files\Common Files\FARO Shared
    1. CapturePoint.WAV [Shared by FARO Measure X]
    2. FaroArmUSB_1033.chm [Shared by FARO Measure X]
    3. FaroArmUsb5.dll [Shared by FARO Measure X]
    4. FaroArmUsb5_1033.dll [Shared by FARO Measure X]
    5. FAROAtlServerApp5.exe [Shared by FARO Measure X]
    6. FaroAtlServerApp5_1033.dll [Shared by FARO Measure X]

    1. This assumes you have no other Aladdin HASP products installed on this machine.
    2. A reboot may be required to release any locks on files contained in this directory structure.

Registry changes

NOTE: To access the registry, go to the RUN command in the Start Menu, and key in "regedit".

  1. Remove key entries:
    1. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FARO\FAROAtlServerApp
    2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FARO Technologies\Measure Q
    3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FARO\FAROAtlServerApp
    4. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FARO Technologies\Measure Q

Windows Vista / Windows 7

  1. Run uninstall program for Measure Q
    1. Select Windows Start -> All Programs -> FARO -> Uninstall Measure Q
    2. Select the "Yes" button to confirm uninstall of product.

  7. Remove directory: C:\Program Files\FARO\Measure Q 1.0
  8. Remove files from: C:\Program Files\Common Files\FARO Shared
