Error-Exception Code or SMX.EXCEPTION Using the Laser Tracker

An Exception Code or a SMX.EXCEPTION error is an error message from the tracker after it failed to complete an instruction sent to it from a program such as CAM2, CompIT, Verisurf, etc. Many times, the exception code message may have a number after it, but this number does not indicate what the problem actually is. It is an error code number that can point the software programmer to the exact line of code that was trying to be executed when the error occurred.

When these messages occur, it is best to get the error message in context, such as what was the operator trying to do when the message came up and what else was being done and determine if it is actually a software related issue.
