The FARO^® Scan Localizer App made it possible to connect the FARO Scan Localizer to your FARO Focus^3D Laser Scanner. This app is no longer being developed and has been discontinued. Discontinued FARO products are considered Legacy. FARO supports Legacy products for the length of time stated in your license agreement. For the convenience of installations using an earlier version of the Scan Localizer firmware and the App, you can download the last version of the App from the Earlier Version section of this article.

The Scan Localizer App has been replaced by version 2.0.1.42 and later of the Scan Localizer firmware. The browser-based interface provided by this firmware enables new possibilities for the Scan Localizer including the ability to connect to and control the Scan Localizer from any computer system or mobile device. Click here to get the latest Scan Localizer firmware and take advantage of new features and capabilities. 

The Scan Localizer determines the exact position of the Focus^3D inside buildings, providing indoor positioning without needing a GPS signal. When moving the Focus^3D around in a large building, the Scan Localizer captures the exact position of the Focus^3D, enabling error-free, fully-automated registration of multiple scans. By knowing the exact position of the Focus^3D, you can complete the entire scan and registration process on-site, substantially reducing the need for time consuming back-office work and quality checks.
