GeoSLAM Draw License Issues
Overview
In this article you can find a in-depth step by step guide on how to fix most GeoSLAM Draw license issues.
Checking your firewall is not blocking GeoSLAM Draw license server
- Open File Explorer.
- Type www.pointcab-software.com into the file explorer.
- Hit Enter key. Your default internet browser should open and show PointCAB's website. If you're unable to access this website you will need to ask your IT administrator to unblock the following ports and domains:
Domain: www.pointcab-software.com
Ports: 80 & 8080
If you are getting a response, as show in the image below, we can move on to the next stage.
Refreshing your license file
- Open File Explorer.
- Type %appdata%\GeoSLAMDraw and hit Enter.
- Rename the file called geoslamdraw.lic (note: it may be called geoslamdraw if you're not showing file extensions) to geoslamdraw_old.lic.
- Open GeoSLAM Hub.
- Click on the Config tab.
- Click Advanced options.
- Scroll down and click Refresh Entitlements.
- Check to see if you have a new geoslamdraw.lic file inside the folder: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\GeoSLAMDraw
- If this file has not been created, please contact GeoSLAM Support and ask them to manually send your GeoSLAM Draw license file, stating your license key.
- Close GeoSLAM Hub
- Navigate to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp
- Delete the folder called PCGS_boostipc
- Delete the folder called GeoSLAMDraw_tmp
- Finally, open GeoSLAM Hub and attempt to open GeoSLAM Draw by hitting the Draw button on any scan data that you have processed in GeoSLAM Hub. GeoSLAM Draw can only open with GeoSLAM Hub opened.
Checking the registry
You will need administrator privileges for this stage.
- Open the Registry Editor.
- Open Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > GeoSLAMDraw
- Check if there is a record created called 'bl', if it is not created, right click anywhere in the space and hit New > String Value. Rename the string value you've just created to 'bl', your registry structure for GeoSLAM Draw should look like the image below.
If GeoSLAM Draw is still not working, please send GeoSLAM Support the log file called GeoSLAMDraw-debug.txt found at %appdata%\GeoSLAMDraw (copy this into File Explorer and hit Enter key).
