Error Messages During Installation of FARO Insight
During installation of FARO Insight, you may receive error messages stating that specific icons, icon folders and / or the Reports/Files directory can not be created. Yet, upon acknowledging these errors, Insight seems to install fine. There is a known issue where these installation errors intermittently occur. If they do occur, the following steps should be done:
1) Verify that you have administrator privileges on the computer. Administrator privileges are required to properly install, register and use Insight.
2) Verify that the Insight.exe is in the C:\FARO\Insight directory. If it isn’t, you should un-install and re-install making sure that it does install in this directory.
If these two items are correct, then registration of Insight can continue. A shortcut on the desktop or in the Start Menu can be manually made to the Insight.exe file.
A shortcut can be manually made to the FARO Utilities.exe file as well (most likely in C:\FARO\Utilities). However, there is a newer release of FARO Utilities that is not included in the Insight installation and it is recommended that this be downloaded and installed instead. It can be downloaded from the Support Site after search for FARO Utilities.
