FARO Licensing Client
Overview
This article provides information about the improved licensing interface that will prompt when running FARO software applications.
Procedure
- When a customer runs licensed FARO software that adopted the new Licensing Client, the licensing selection screen will be displayed if there is more than one compatible license on the computer. Please note that the license selection screen does not show all the licenses that you have, but only the compatible ones for the software version that you are trying to run.
- If there is only one valid license available, the license selection screen will not be displayed. If that is the case, the licensing client will log in automatically on the available license and the software in use will run as expected.
- On the other hand, if there are no licenses available, this screen will be displayed:
If you need to see or manage the licenses you have on the computer, please use the Licensing Manager.
- Assumptions - The License Selection screen will:
- Show valid licenses for that product (if there are more than one available)
- Show valid licenses for that product that expired, with the option to update
- Show the option to update expired licenses as "disabled" if the network license is hosted on another machine
- Not show licenses for older versions of a given product
- Not show expired trial licenses
- “Remember my choice” - This is an option of the License Selection Screen that allows customers to select and save the license they want to use to run FARO software.
By clicking on the checkbox highlighted above, the customer won’t need to select the license every time he runs the software, as long as the selected license remains available. If the selected license is not available anymore (e.g. license expired, license in use, unavailable network license, etc.) the user will be prompted again with the license selection screen to choose which license to use.
- Forget my license selection - To forget the saved selection it’s necessary to run the licensing manager, open the settings panel and click on “My Selected Licenses”.
The "My selected Licenses" screen will open, allowing you to delete the saved license selection for a given software product.
After doing this, next time you run the software application the license selection screen will prompt again for you to choose which license to use.
