32-Bit Operating System Support Discontinued for Measure 10

Overview

The FARO® software development team has found creative ways to support 32-bit operating systems well beyond this system's ability to deliver peak processing performance. The current FARO® Measure, version 10.7.X series, supports 32-bit operating systems. However, given contemporary demands of intensive graphics processing and the new feature requests coming from devoted Measure users, future versions would be handicapped if we continue to try to support these systems. As a result, when the 10.7.X series ends at some point in the near future, new versions of Measure will not support 32-bit operating systems and computers based on x86 system architecture.

If you do not already have a working 64-bit operating system, this gives you plenty of time to consider our recommendation to upgrade your system. To continue to use the latest features of Measure and to get the most responsive user experience contact FARO Global Sales to ensure you upgrade in accordance with the latest Measure system requirements.

Details

The decision to discontinue support for 32-bit operating systems in favor of more contemporary 64-bit operating systems enables FARO to accelerate its software development in areas that are not possible due to restrictions imposed by 32-bit system architecture. Advanced graphics, CAD, and point cloud processing capabilities now available in Measure make intensive demands on operating system and computer memory resources. 64-bit operating systems and computers with large memory capacity are more responsive to advanced graphics processing. The Quick Tools feature that automates long sequences of measuring tasks and Measurement Reports also benefit from the processing power available from 64-bit operating systems.

If you do not use these Measure features, are willing not to upgrade beyond the version 10.7.X series, and continue to use a 32-bit operating system, please be advised that FARO Support may not be able to fix issues with your current Measure version if the fix requires upgrading to the a version beyond 10.7.X.
