Microsoft Windows XP Discontinued Support Information for Measure 10
Overview
FARO® Measure 10.4 is the last version that will function on the Microsoft Windows XP operating system.
Details
FARO's decision to discontinue XP support is a direct result of Microsoft's announcement to suspend XP support as of April 8, 2014. To avoid security and maintenance issues, FARO recommends that you upgrade to a newer, supported version of Windows. We would like to emphasize that because Microsoft will no longer support XP, they will also suspend security updates and patches for XP. Therefore, running XP beyond April 8, 2014 may expose your computer to potential risks, such as security and compliance risks, as well as lack of independent software vendor (ISV) and hardware manufacturers' support.
If you choose not to upgrade to a newer, supported version of Windows, you will not be able to install or run versions of Measure 10 beyond version 10.4. This means that FARO Support will not be able to address issues you may have with your current version of Measure 10, especially if fixing the issue requires you to update to the latest version.
Discontinuing Windows XP support enables FARO to accelerate its software development in areas that were not possible due to restrictions imposed by the legacy XP operating system. In summary, FARO is taking this step forward to better support the vast majority of our customers.
