Where Can I Find the MAC Address of My Computer
Overview
A FARO® automated process may request you enter your computer's MAC address or ID as part of a licensing process. This applies to SCENE 4.8 and earlier, Insight, and the Photon Laser Scanner. When entering or sending in the MAC address, make sure you record the string without dashes.
Details
- Go to the Windows Start menu and in the Search programs and files field, type run, and select Run at the top of the returned results.
- In the Open field type cmd and press Enter.
- A DOS window appears.
- At the prompt in the DOS window, type ipconfig/all and press Enter. A list of the computer's ethernet connections appears.
- Look up the main ethernet connection. Most likely it is a section entitled Local Area Connection. Underneath the section title, look for the Physical Address and record the alpha numeric string. This string is the MAC address. If you are in doubt, contact your IT department.
