Missing Scans on the SD Card / 0MB Scan with Preview
Behavior
This article provides solutions and best practices for missing scans on the SD card or 0MB scans with a preview. These issues can occur when:
- The scanner is shut down manually or due to low battery during the writing (SD card icon blinking) of data to the SD card, corrupting the scan's index entries
- The SD card is defective
- The firmware version is outdated
Solutions
- Remove the currently installed SD card. Use a new SD card and format it using the scanner's Format menu function (Manage > Service > SD Card > Format). For more information on SD card requirements and formatting, see: Memory Cards Used With the Focus Laser Scanner and Formatting Instructions.
- If model applicable, search for the missing scans on the scanners SSD (Focus M/S, Focus3D, and earlier models do not have an SSD). To do so, connect to your scanner remotely, see: Connecting to the Focus using WLAN, section Viewing Scans.
- Use a third-party application to recover the data on the SD card, positive results are not guaranteed
- Collect the folder called Logfiles and send it to FARO customer support for analysis. To export the Logfiles, on your scanner go to (Home > Manage > Service > Log File > Export). For more information see: Export the Log File for the Laser Scanner Focus.
Best Practices
- Formatting the SD card is recommended for new projects to avoid conflicts with the scan names based on repeated file base names in different projects and synchronization to SD card
- Start scanning with a fully charged battery and change/charge it to 100% as soon as it reaches 20% capacity to avoid any sudden shutdowns
- Be sure that the SD card icon stops blinking before shutting the scanner down. If the icon is blinking, the writing of the data is not finished. An empty SD Card has faster writing/reading speed than a full one.
