Warranty and Service Policies for Hardware Operating Inside a Nuclear Facility
Radiation, Contamination, and Your FARO Warranty
As long as a nuclear work environment is legally safe for operators to work without protective gear, it is safe for FARO hardware and computers as well. When used under safe conditions, we will continue to service FARO hardware and provide recertification certificates as needed.
For safety and liability reasons, if FARO hardware or computers are contaminated by radiation, although they may continue to work, FARO cannot provide service and recertification until you provide certified proof that the hardware or computer has been correctly decontaminated, is safe to ship as nonhazardous material, and is safe for technicians to work with.
If your hardware has been contaminated, contact FARO Support to get product specific information about what to consider during the decontamination process. Charges may apply depending on your warranty status and the extent of the contamination. Charges are determined on a case-by-case basis. Send the decontamination certification to FARO Support prior to shipping your hardware to the FARO factory for service and recertification.
