TCP/UDP Port Used by the Sentinel HASP Driver and FARO Licensing System
HASP Driver Connection
FARO uses Sentinel HASP, to provide product license keys for all FARO software, whether you use a dongle/portlock or a product license key that you activate using FARO Licensing Manager. The Sentinel HASP driver communicates over port 1947 on your computer. Make sure applications other than Sentinel HASP and firewalls do not block this port.
If other applications are running on this port, they may prevent the licensing and use of FARO software. To correct this problem, contact your IT department and ask them to reassign the communications port for applications other than Sentinel HASP and allow port 1947 to be accessed.
Local Licensing Manager Connections
FARO Licensing Manager communicates internally using HTTP/2 protocol over ports 4550 and 4551 on your computer.
These ports are only used on localhost and don’t have to be usually allowed in a firewall as they don’t listen to any external connection.
If other applications are running on these ports, it will prevent the licensing and use of FARO software. To correct this problem, contact your IT department and ask them to reassign the communications ports for applications other than FARO Licensing and allow port 4550 and 4551 to be accessed on localhost.
License Activation and Update Connections
The FARO licensing system uses port 6780 at the following URL:
http://license.faro.com:6780
The connection is not encrypted.
If you are having issues activating or updating a software license, ensure all hardware and software firewalls are allowing traffic on port 6780 and the above domain/IP addresses are not blocked.
IPv6 Notes
The FARO licensing system uses IPv4 only.
